I am not a political person. I'm running for mayor because I care deeply about the community where I live. Luthersville has been a part of my life since I was born: my mom was from here, and I grew up spending every holiday at my grandparents' house on North Main Street. I have lived here for the past twenty years, and I would like to see our community enjoy the improved quality of life and economic opportunity that it deserves. Working together, we can make that happen.

QUALITY OF LIFE and ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Quality of life and economic development are more than just a matter of recreational facilities and places to shop and eat. They are also the issues mentioned on this page. Without adequate public safety, reliable utilities, basic amenities, and open communication and transparency, a high quality of life and economic development are almost impossible.

PUBLIC SAFETY

QUALITY OF LIFE and ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

All people deserve to feel safe in their own homes and confident that their property is secure. A Luthersville police force would be accountable to this community, and its operations would reflect the needs and priorities of Luthersville's citizens. Faster response times would be an added benefit.

Many parts of Luthersville's water system are still in use years past their life expectancies, which is why repairs and disruptions happen so frequently. The city will have to find ways (such as grants and forgivable loans) to pay for updates to its water system without straining household budgets. At the same time, the lack of a city sewer system severely limits Luthersville's ability to attract a broader range of businesses (a grocery store, for example) that would improve quality of life, provide jobs, and broaden the tax base to reduce the tax burden on households.

Luthersville has needed an affordable grocery store for many years, and it has needed a bank since 2022. The city cannot force a grocery store or a bank to open here, but it can start conversations with corporations and work to make Luthersville a desirable location for these essential businesses.

OPEN COMMUNICATION and TRANSPARENCY

Open Communication:

City government should communicate openly with citizens, work to keep them well-informed, and respond to their questions and concerns with respect and complete answers. All public servants — whether elected officials or city personnel — should have an open door policy.

Transparency:

Honest public officials who make well-informed decisions should be willing and able to explain the reasoning behind those decisions and happy to answer questions from the public they serve.

PLANNING FOR FUTURE GROWTH

We have an opportunity to plan for the growth that is coming so that it does not come at the expense — literally — of those of us who already live here. Planning ahead instead of being caught unprepared can make it possible for Luthersville to have quality growth that will strengthen our sense of community and quality of life instead of undermining them.
